Norfolk County England Visits
Norfolk County England’s Kings Lynn Catabile
The Cantabile Youth Choir was formed 34 years ago under as the West Winch Junior Choir. In 1991 the name was changed to The West Norfolk Youth Choir to open up a wider area for membership. In 2006 the name was changed yet again to Cantabile Youth Choir. The choir has won many awards and cups at music festivals. They have performed before the late Princess Diana and Princess Anne. The choir has toured Wales, Holland, Germany, Austria, and the USA. They have been invited to Russia in May 2008 as the guests of the Konakova Boys Choir. Over the years the choir has raised thousands of pounds for various charities, and has appeared on television, having raised a record-breaking amount of money for the Save the Children Fund.
Public concerts are as follows:
Wednesday, April 4, 7:00 p.m. at The- Selden Arcade: English choral group, The Cantabile, and Norfolk Collegiate School Chorus . There is a post concert reception of cookies and punch hosted by N.S.C.A. -You're invited!
Thursday, April 5, 7:00 p.m. at The Unitarian Church , 739 Yarmouth Street featuring the Cantabile, Norfolk Collegiate School Chorus, and The Virginia Childrens Chorus
Friday, April 6, Noon at The Selden Arcade: The Cantabile and Norfolk Collegiate School Chorus
Saturday, April 7, 1:30 p.m. at MacArthur Mall , Third level

Young Artist Showcase April 8-28
Reception & Awards Ceremony Thursday Evening, April 26 from 7-9PM Selden ArcadePlease save the date for the Norfolk Sister City Association ’ s Young Artist Showcase. Artwork from Norfolk Public Schools, artwork from our Sister Cities, and winning artwork from a traveling International Exhibit from Sister Cities International (SCI) will be on display. One winning entry from Norfolk Public Schools will move on to the SCI Artshowcase that will be held in Jacksonville later this summer. An invitation will follow. It is our hope that as many of you can attend as possible to help us present the award ribbons and certificates to our wonderful students participating in the event.

June 27, 2006 Wilhelmshaven, Germany 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Wilhelmshaven, Germany partnership. After the festivities on July 3rd, the tour will continue o to the cities of Trier and Mittenwald. Day excursions can be done from these two cities, of which there are many to choose from. Germany's oldest city, Trier, offers much historical value as well as a location convenient for visiting points of interest in the Black Forest and the Mosel River area. Mittenwald is the scenic Bavarian Alps, and is known for woodcarvings; it is a good base camp for visiting Garmisch, Oberammergau, Castle Linderhof and Wies Church. August 2006 Kitakyushu, Japan The Kitakyushu Committee is is planning to send approximately 45 Governor's School of the Arts students, members of a performing musical group, and a band group to Kitakyushu. This program is being orchestrated by the City of Kitakyushu International Exchange Association, and the Japan Education Culture Center. This exchange will involve performing engagements, school visitations, home stays, a visit to Space World, a youth conference, and a City Hall visitation. MId-Summer 2007 Toulon, France The Toulon Committee is looking for host families for five young people who have won an English contest in our French sister City. The youth usually come for a two-to-three week period with their own spending money and insurance. Our hope is for them to be integrated into an American family with teenagers and enjoy a sample of American life. Likewise, we are accepting applications for local students wanting to visit Toulon this summer. Partial financial help is available for public-school students. Yorktown, 2006 Salute to the French Navy Dinner Friday, Oct 20, 2006 after a memorial ceremony at the De Grasse statue in Fort Story as part of the celebration. Officials from France and the French Embally in Washington, D.C. have been invited to attend. The Homeport of the French navy is Toulon.
